Strategic Purchasing Manager

We are currently looking for

Strategic Purchasing Manager

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Supply Chain, Finance, Accounting or Economics (MBA preferred) with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Confidence leading plant & country level purchasing initiatives and playing a significant role in strategy development. Candidates with experience working in a Global Organization are preferred.

Main Purpose
  • Build partnerships with internal and external suppliers to deliver a world-class supplier base that focuses on best price, delivery and quality
  • Drive cost down activities and projects including purchasing savings
  • Develop negotiation strategies and lead supplier negotiations
  • Create processes, drive decisions, and influence change using your negotiation skills, strong judgment, analytical skills, and resourcefulness
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Manage contract negotiation strategies, lead supplier negotiations and formulate policies with suppliers
  • Develop cost reduction strategies and savings plans
  • Develop and implement purchasing and local contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Direct and coordinate activities of personnel engaged in buying, selling, and distributing materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies
  • Locate vendors of materials, equipment or supplies, and interview them to determine product availability and terms of sales
  • Create and support customer focus, team spirit, constructive work environment and ownership in the department
  • Create a learning culture thereby improving the competency level and response time
  • Motivate and develop team members for the success of business
  • Be responsible for the key metrics (past due, on time delivery, supplier scorecard)
  • Implement/Manage purchasing process
  • Process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Control purchasing department budgets
  • Review purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers
  • Administer online purchasing systems
  • Analyze market and delivery systems to assess present and future material availability
  • Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products, or substitute materials
  • Prepare reports regarding market conditions and merchandise costs
  • Participate in projects related to new product launches, cost down activities etc.
  • Ensure that all requirements concerning Health & Safety, environmental and legal regulations are followed
Competency Expectations
  • Proven relevant experience in demand chain in a manufacturing environment
  • A strong background in planning and purchasing activities related to material logistics, aimed at meeting pre-determined quantities, quality and deadlines, and the efficiency of operational flows is essential
  • Global commodity experience
  • Able to create win-win resolutions to conflict situations using analytical-problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to execute multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced and evolving environment
  • Excellent planning and time management skills
  • Successful at building and leading high performing teams
  • Effective listener and the ability to cultivate relationships in cross functional groups and earn trust
  • Able to lead, coach and mentor Buyers or Sr. Buyers
  • Able to build constructive, trusting relationships with our global supply base
  • Willing to travel internationally as needed
  • Preferably have experiences in Lean manufacturing principles
  • Ability to learn and implement new methods and processes
Other Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • Ability to work in a global, cross-cultural and multi-functional team environment
  • Computer literacy

Travel requirements (approximately 10-15%)

Hybrid Scheduling (approximately 25%) remaining portion onsite at Armada Factory.
