Why did Armedica Manufacturing Corporation choose Ewellix to help with this transition?
The FDA issued a new mandate requiring all AC electrical devices to have an indicator light showing the end-user when it was powered up. ‘We were using an Ewellix MAX6 actuator for our Hi-Lo treatment tables, although a great product, it did not meet the new FDA requirements. At the time, there was nothing available on the market that could satisfy the dimensional and load capabilities we needed for our existing designs’ says Claude McCormick.
Ewellix has been providing products to Armedica since 1998 and has a track record for manufacturing not only quality products but giving exceptional service. For this reason, Armedica asked us to improve the MAX6 actuator to meet the new requirements and simplify their changeovers. Since we needed to add a LED indicator, a decision was taken to look at a completely upgraded solution.
The newly designed MAX7 actuator now provides a universal power supply which incorporates the safest medically approved components available on the market and maintaining the same dimensions and capabilities of the previous MAX6 actuator.
‘In the past, we had to stock four different variations of the MAX6 actuator, to meet the market needs for 120-volt and 230-volt AC supplies. Since it was difficult to predict which orders would be received, we had to keep a bigger inventory to accommodate our commitment of quick delivery'

With the new universal power supply, the customers’ needs are always met as it can accommodate 90 to 260 volts AC, as well as 50 to 60 Hz, thus eliminating air shipping costs, reducing stock holding in half and allowing Armedica to keep their delivery promises to their customers.
